I am often asked how long does it take to create a painting. It seems like a simple question but the reality is that the creation of a painting starts well before the colour goes onto the canvas....even before the drawing/sketching starts. With that in mind then once the 'sparks' have settled into line and an idea has formed (and the sketches are formed and completed) then the painting starts on the canvas. The later part usually takes about 40 hours work - depending on the detail in the painting. However, 40 hours in my life actually translates to about 10 weeks - 3 months as other demands on my life are also meet. This rhythm has a nice flow for me enabling me to access the zone which spills over into my life with, what feels like, a truly magical place.
